Palm Street Abandonment Declined by City of Houston

As a public service announcement, the Museum Park Neighborhood Association (MPNA) opposed the abandonment of the 1100 block of Palm between Main and Fannin. Museum Park Super Neighborhood hosted a joint meeting between the Museum Park Super Neighborhood Council, the MPNA Board, and the developers to better understand the project needs and to discuss alternatives to abandoning this important east-west public right of way.

Through Livable Center Study efforts, it was determined that approximately 60% of east-west right-of-way in Museum Park has been lost to METRO light rail and other vehicular accommodations. MPNA subsequently hosted a meeting for their general membership to view a presentation by the developers on their proposed project.

At this time, the abandonment has been declined per the attached letter from City of Houston Public Works.
