MPSN is a proud supporter of the Houston B-Cycle program. Recently, we received this letter of recognition from William Rub, Executive Director of Houston Bike Share for our letter of support upon their behalf.
Last week, the H-GAC awarded Houston Bike Share the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) funding we applied for in January, a grant worth $4.3M. This grant will enable Houston Bike Share to expand from 29 stations with 220 to 100 stations with 800 bikes.
This application was approved in part by the support we received from 29 organizations across the city. In particular, we want to thank Museum Park for you letter of support. This is a milestone for alternative transportation in our city; your shared vision has enabled Houston Bike Share to contribute to the exciting changes happening in Houston.
We plan on starting the expansion in the first half of 2016 with completion in early 2018. Following is an overview of the planned expansion. In each phase we will be working with community leaders and citizens to make Houston Bike Share the best it can possibly be.
Phase 1 Stations will be installed in and around the Texas Medical Center, Rice University and Rice Village.
Phase 2 Focus will be on creating greater station density in Midtown, the Museum District and the greater Downtown area.
Phase 3 Stations will be installed SE of Downtown near University of Houston, TSU and others will be installed in the Greater East End, up into the Heights and out West to Memorial Park.
